Chandigarh : Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal stated that efforts are underway to manage, bio-mining, and dispose of the Bandhwari landfill located on the Gurugram-Faridabad border. The Integrated Solid Waste Management Project for the Faridabad-Gurugram cluster was estimated to cost ₹330 crore, for which the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad awarded a contract to M/s Ecogreen Energy Pvt. Ltd. on August 14, 2017, for a period of 22 years.
Shri Goyal was speaking in the Haryana Legislative Assembly today during Question Hour in response to a question posed by MLA Kuldeep Vats.
He stated that from 2017 to 2024, M/s Eco Green Energy Pvt. Ltd. was paid ₹157.07 crore. A fine of ₹11.46 crore was also imposed on the company.
The Minister stated that the technical evaluation of the project is conducted by independent agencies such as IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati, while the financial audit is conducted by the Local Accounts Department of the Haryana Government.
He stated that the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has so far disposed of 36.28 lakh metric tons of legacy waste at the Bandhwari site, spending a total of ₹311.50 crore. Currently, approximately 16.60 lakh metric tons of waste remains at the site. The target for its disposal is March 2027 to ensure cleanliness and environmental improvement in the area.
The Minister clarified that there is no evidence of any serious illness in the surrounding villages due to the landfill site.
