Surat: Prof. Gobardhan Das, Member of NITI Aayog, along with the DNH&DD Nodal Adviser and a Young Professional, visited key industrial units in Surat as part of an effort to promote learning and knowledge sharing. The visit focused on identifying pathways to accelerate economic growth and advance the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. The visit was shared by NITI Aayog through its official social media handle on X.
The delegation visited Larsen & Toubro Limited, where it gained insights into the company’s large-scale advanced manufacturing and heavy engineering capabilities. The facility manufactures equipment for the power, nuclear and refinery sectors and is also engaged in the development of emerging green hydrogen technologies.
According to the information shared by NITI Aayog, the facility directly employs more than 5,000 people and supports over 12,500 indirect jobs.
The delegation also visited the Surat Diamond Bourse to explore opportunities to strengthen India’s position in the global diamond value chain. Discussions centred on indigenous grading, accreditation, certification and traceability systems aimed at improving trust, transparency and global acceptance.
The visits highlighted the role of large-scale manufacturing, technological innovation, skilled employment and globally competitive value chains in attracting investment, expanding exports and promoting sustainable economic growth.
