New Delhi: In a major step towards strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities, the Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme has awarded a project on the “Indigenous Manufacturing of Sodium Borohydride Chemical in Bulk” to M/s Navin Fluorine International Limited.

Under the project, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will provide grant-in-aid as well as technological support to the company for developing the indigenous manufacturing process for the critical defence material.

The initiative is aimed at accelerating domestic process development for Sodium Borohydride, an important chemical used in defence applications, while reducing dependence on imports for strategic materials.

According to DRDO, the collaboration will further strengthen India’s defence research and development ecosystem, promote indigenous technologies, and contribute to the government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by enhancing self-reliance in critical defence manufacturing.
