DC Ajay Kumar Reviews Preparations for Preventation from Heat Wave and Heat Stroke in Summer

Gurugram : Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar chaired a review meeting on Wednesday in the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat regarding the preparations being made to prevent heat wave and heat stroke in the summer season and to deal with waterlogging in the monsoon.  He gave necessary guidelines to the concerned departmental officers. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of GMDA, Municipal Corporation Gurugram and Manesar, Agriculture Department, Irrigation Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Panchayati Raj, WCD, Forest, NHAI, Labor Department, Police Department and Public Health to ensure all necessary arrangements and preparations on time to prevent heat and heat wave.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials of the Health Department to make people aware about the prevention of heat wave and heat stroke. Tell people what they should do and what they should not do to avoid heat. Promote the guidelines related to protecting children and the elderly from heat and avoiding going out in excessive sunlight as much as possible. Ensure the availability of medicines and ORS in sufficient quantity at all hospitals, PHCs and CHCs. A control room should also be set up in the district for information related to heat wave.

The DC directed the Animal Husbandry Department to fill the ponds in the villages with clean water and issue advisories to protect animals from heat. There should be a provision of cold water for passengers at all bus stands. Instructions were given to fill water in pyau and matkas at public and important places of Gurugram and ensure proper arrangement of drinking water.

The Public Health Department was asked to ensure the quality of drinking water supply and get the water tested from time to time. The Electricity Department was asked to ensure smooth power supply during the summer season.

The Labor Department was instructed to issue advisories for protection of laborers from heat wave and to promote schemes by organizing camps. The Fire Department was instructed to give better training to the employees and speed up the response time. The Forest Department was instructed to ensure water sources for wildlife and animals, promote water harvesting and keep a watch to prevent forest fires. In the meeting, Panchayati Raj institutions were instructed to inform people in rural areas about the prevention of heat wave and to make arrangements for water in water pots and water kiosks at public places. The Transport Department has been instructed to provide drinking water and ORS in buses and also to ensure that the water provided to the passengers is completely clean and in accordance with health standards.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar said that there should be no problem of water logging to keep the traffic facility smooth during rainy days. He said that all the departments should coordinate with each other and inspect the places where rainwater accumulates. Whatever arrangements can be made for water drainage as per the rules should be completed as soon as possible. He said that there should be proper arrangement for the drainage of water logging in the underpass, so that the water can come out quickly. Motor pumps should be installed for immediate drainage during heavy rains. Apart from this, ensure regular cleaning of the drain made for drainage so that silt does not accumulate. This will not obstruct the flow of garbage and soil.

GM Roadways Bharat Bhushan Gogia, Sohna SDM Sanjeev Kumar, GMDA Executive Engineer Vikram Singh, Project Officer Poonam from District Disaster Management, and officials from other related departments were present in the meeting.
