New Delhi : Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is set to arrive in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking the beginning of her first official visit to India since assuming office. The three-day visit, scheduled from July 1 to 3, is expected to focus on further strengthening the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

According to official sources, all major engagements during the visit will be held in the national capital. While Guwahati was earlier explored as a possible destination and proposed to the Japanese side, the programme has been confined to New Delhi due to scheduling constraints and logistical considerations.

Prime Minister Takaichi is expected to hold wide-ranging bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with discussions likely to cover trade, investment, economic cooperation, technology, connectivity, security and other areas of mutual interest.

Japanese Ambassador to India ONO Keiichi has confirmed the visit, stating that Prime Minister Takaichi will arrive in New Delhi on July 1 for her maiden visit to India as Prime Minister. He said the two leaders will hold a bilateral summit and jointly participate in a high-level India-Japan Economic Forum.

The economic forum will bring together leading business leaders from both countries to explore new opportunities for trade, investment and industrial collaboration. The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to the longstanding India-Japan partnership and further deepen cooperation across strategic and economic sectors.
