New Delhi/Melbourne: Preparations are in full swing in Australia ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit, with the Indian diaspora gearing up to accord him a grand welcome in Melbourne.
The visit, which will be Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Australia, has generated considerable enthusiasm among the Indian community, with large-scale participation expected in events planned during his stay.
According to organisers, the ‘Melbourne Meets Modi’ community event, scheduled for July 9, has already received around 30,000 registrations, reflecting the strong response from the Indian diaspora and supporters across Australia.
The proposed visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with discussions likely to focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, critical minerals, education, defence, technology and people-to-people ties.
The visit is also being viewed as an opportunity to reinforce the shared democratic values of the two nations and deepen collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region. The strong turnout expected at the Melbourne event highlights the growing engagement of the Indian diaspora in Australia and the strengthening relationship between New Delhi and Canberra.
If the visit proceeds as scheduled, it is expected to further consolidate bilateral ties while opening new avenues for economic cooperation and strategic collaboration between the two countries.
