Chinese FM Wang Yi, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Hold Phone Talks

New Delhi : Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the two sides discussed the future direction of China–United States relations and key issues affecting bilateral ties.

The details of the conversation were shared by Xu Feihong, China’s Ambassador to India and spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India, through his official account on social media platform X.

According to the information shared, Wang Yi said that China and the United States should work to remove disruptions, overcome obstacles and keep bilateral relations on the right track by building a constructive relationship based on strategic stability.

He emphasized that both countries should adhere to the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit, while translating the consensus reached by the leaders of the two nations into concrete policies and practical measures.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also called for expanding areas of cooperation, reducing points of disagreement and effectively managing risks to ensure greater stability in bilateral relations.

Referring to the Taiwan issue, Wang Yi described it as a matter of far-reaching significance and urged the United States to handle Taiwan-related matters with greater prudence, reiterating China’s long-standing position on the issue.

The conversation comes at a time when both Beijing and Washington continue efforts to manage strategic differences while exploring avenues for dialogue and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
