New Delhi : The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹18.4 lakh crore, including over ₹5 lakh crore recorded during the financial year 2025–26. The milestone underscores the platform’s growing role as a transparent, efficient, and inclusive digital procurement system supporting India’s public economy.
The achievement reflects increasing adoption of GeM across government entities, enabling seamless procurement, connecting businesses nationwide with public sector demand, and promoting transparency, sustainability, and economic inclusion in public spending.
Addressing the media, GeM CEO Mihir Kumar stated that crossing the ₹18.4 lakh crore mark demonstrates strong trust among buyers, sellers, and institutions in a technology-driven procurement ecosystem.
Strong Participation from MSMEs and Startups
GeM continues to prioritise inclusivity, with significant participation from Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), women entrepreneurs, SC/ST enterprises, and startups. During FY 2025–26, MSEs accounted for 68% of total orders and contributed 47.1% of the GMV.
Over 11 lakh MSEs are registered on the platform, collectively fulfilling more than 51 lakh orders worth ₹2.36 lakh crore during the year—registering over 20% growth compared to the previous financial year.
Women-led enterprises have also seen strong growth, with more than 2.1 lakh registered entities securing orders worth over ₹28,000 crore, marking an increase of around 28%. Similarly, SC/ST enterprises received orders exceeding ₹6,000 crore, while startups recorded significant momentum with orders worth over ₹19,000 crore, reflecting a growth of more than 36%.
Technology-Driven Transparency
Technology remains central to GeM’s operations, with the platform leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enhance efficiency and transparency. Key features include ML-based catalogue validation, automated checks to minimise errors, and real-time analytics to monitor transactions and detect anomalies.
Advanced tools help identify irregularities such as abnormal pricing, potential collusion, and technical discrepancies. System-driven mechanisms like Bid Health Scores further support informed decision-making and strengthen trust in the procurement process.
Rising Adoption by States
Following strong uptake by central ministries, departments, and public sector enterprises, GeM is witnessing increased participation from States and Union Territories. Procurement by states grew by 38.3% in FY 2025–26, highlighting expanding adoption at the regional level.
The growing engagement from states reflects rising confidence in GeM as a reliable and accountable procurement platform, enabling wider access and deeper penetration of public procurement across the country.
