Vice President Radhakrishnan Urges Youth to Embrace Innovation at DCRUST Convocation

Vice President Addresses 8th Convocation Ceremony of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology, Murthal, Haryana

Sonepat : C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the 8th Convocation Ceremony of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology in Murthal, Sonepat, Haryana, highlighting the importance of innovation, character, and inclusive development in building a strong nation.

Paying tribute to Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram, the Vice President described him as a symbol of integrity, social justice, and visionary leadership. He noted that Chhotu Ram’s efforts in empowering farmers and marginalised communities laid the foundation for Haryana’s transformation into a progressive agricultural state, contributing significantly to India’s food security and rural development.

Women’s Participation a Positive Sign

Congratulating the graduating students, the Vice President highlighted that nearly 64% of gold medal winners were women, while women made up around half of the graduating cohort. He termed this as a strong indicator of social transformation and credited initiatives such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao for improving gender balance in Haryana.

Focus on Self-Reliance and Innovation

Referring to the vision of a developed India, he said the call for an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat represents a push towards innovation, confidence, and indigenous solutions. He cited India’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that the country not only developed vaccines but also provided them free of cost domestically and supplied them to over 100 nations.

Embracing Emerging Technologies

The Vice President emphasised the transformative potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, quantum computing, and green technologies. He urged students to adopt these fields with responsibility and use their knowledge for nation-building.

Message on Values and Social Responsibility

Expressing concern over substance abuse, he called upon the youth to reject drugs and promote a healthy, purpose-driven lifestyle. He stressed that true success is defined not only by achievements but also by character, integrity, and resilience in the face of challenges.

He also underlined the importance of decolonising mindsets, stating that education should instil confidence in India’s heritage and intellectual traditions while fostering independent thinking.

The event was attended by Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Nayab Singh Saini, Arvind Kumar Sharma, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shree Prakash Singh, among others.
