Darjeeling : Member of Parliament and former Foreign Secretary Harsh V Shringla welcomed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor to Darjeeling and hosted him at his residence, Ivanhoe, overlooking the iconic Darjeeling Mall.

Shringla described the visit as both a personal honour and a memorable opportunity to showcase the unique warmth, heritage and culture of Darjeeling. He welcomed Ambassador Gor with local favourites, including Darjeeling momos and a cup of Castleton First Flush tea.

The visit featured a series of engaging activities, including a walk along the Darjeeling Mall and interactions with young students and emerging talents from the hill town. Ambassador Gor also experienced a ride on the historic Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, one of the region’s most celebrated cultural and heritage landmarks.

Shringla said it was a pleasure to share with Ambassador Gor the distinctive spirit and traditions of Darjeeling. He added that the visit offered a special opportunity to witness the India–US friendship come alive in the hills, reflecting the warmth and people-to-people connect that underpin the relationship between the two countries.
