Gurugram : As part of the Haryana City Cleanliness Campaign, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, in collaboration with Balancing Bit, organized a visit for students from Vivek Model School, Sector 45, to a composting site in Sector 43 to promote cleanliness awareness. The purpose of this visit was to familiarize the students with the entire process of waste management, source segregation, and composting, so as to inculcate responsibility and awareness about cleanliness in the future generation.
Detailed information provided to students
During the visit, Kuldeep Hindustani explained to the students that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the administration, but also the duty of every citizen. He stated that if every family makes it a habit to separate wet and dry waste in their homes, approximately 80 percent of the waste could be disposed of on-site. He also gave the students a live demonstration of the composting process, explaining how to prepare organic fertilizer from wet waste. It also explained how dry waste can be recycled and reused, which plays a crucial role in environmental protection.
Importance of Cleanliness in Disease Prevention
Mrs. Priyanka Yadav alerted the students about the dangers of infectious diseases spread by uncleanliness, such as dengue, malaria, and typhoid. She emphasized that cleanliness in homes, schools, and surrounding areas is essential not only for health but also for setting a positive example in society. She encouraged all students to become cleanliness ambassadors among their families, friends, and neighbors and to spread the message of “Separate Waste – Clean the Country” as widely as possible.
All students, teachers, and citizens present administered the cleanliness pledge. They pledged to actively contribute to making the city clean, beautiful, and pollution-free. She emphasized that cleanliness is not a one-day campaign, but a way of life that must be incorporated into everyday habits. Many local citizens, including Manoj Chauhan of Sanskriti Apartment, contributed to the success of this program. Their participation made this initiative even more effective.

Cleanliness awareness campaign also provided at the vegetable market
In this context, Priyanka Yadav, IEC expert from the Municipal Corporation, encouraged shopkeepers and customers at the Sector 10 vegetable market to use cloth bags, keep dustbins, and maintain cleanliness around them. This initiative, organized by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, not only makes residents aware of the importance of cleanliness but also serves as an important step towards bringing positive change in society.
According to Pradeep Dahiya, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, such educational tours are extremely useful in raising awareness about cleanliness among students and instilling the spirit of responsible citizenship. He said that the true impact of cleanliness will be visible only when future generations make it a part of their lives. By providing students with practical knowledge about composting, recycling, and waste segregation, we are not only preparing them for environmental protection but also strengthening the goal of a smart and sustainable Gurugram. The Municipal Commissioner also said that the Municipal Corporation will organize such programs regularly in future also, so that public awareness can be made more effective in schools, colonies and markets.
