-Former RAW chief Alok Joshi Becomes Chairman of National Security Advisory Board
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting today at his residence. Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were also present in this most important meeting. It is not clear that what decision was taken by CCS. Speculation says that timing and modalities of action against Pakistan are discussed in the second meeting of the CCS, the first meeting was held on 23 April, the day after the Pahalgam attack.
Immediately after the CCS meeting, there will be a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs. After this, there will be a meeting of the Committee on Economic Affairs and the Union Cabinet.
Reconstitution of National Security Advisory Board :
Meanwhile, the government has reconstituted the National Security Advisory Board. Former RAW chief Alok Joshi has been made its chairman. Former Western Air Commander Air Marshal PM Sinha, Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General AK Singh and Rear Admiral Monty Khanna are members of this committee. Rajiv Ranjan Verma and Manmohan Singh are retired officers from the Indian Police Service in this board. Apart from these, Venkatesh Verma, retired from IFS, is part of the 7-member board.
Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi held a high-level meeting for one and a half hours with the three army chiefs, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS Anil Chauhan. PM Modi gave a free hand to the armies and said that the army should decide the method, target and time of action against terrorism.
The Punjab government said on Wednesday that anti-drone systems will be deployed on the border with Pakistan. The state government has taken this decision after the Pahalgam attack. The Punjab Chief Minister’s Office said that this system will stop the supply of drugs and weapons. Police and security agencies will be able to keep an eye on any kind of infiltration and thwart it.
