GMDA CEO Reviews CM Announcements, Directs Timely Completion of Key Projects

Gurugram : Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), P.C. Meena, on Tuesday reviewed the progress of projects announced by the Chief Minister and directed officials to ensure their timely completion as per the prescribed schedules.

Emphasising the importance of these projects, Mr. Meena instructed officials to accord them top priority and closely monitor their execution to avoid delays. He also directed that agencies failing to meet their responsibilities should face penalties, while those completing work ahead of schedule should be encouraged.

During the meeting, officials informed that the sewerage network project in Sectors 77 to 80 is currently under the tendering and allocation stage. Meanwhile, the contract for laying the sewerage network in Sectors 103 to 115 has already been awarded, and construction work is in progress.

Reviewing the city’s sewerage infrastructure, officials said GMDA is expanding its sewage treatment capacity through several new Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects. Tenders have been floated for a 40 MLD STP at Naurangpur and a 100 MLD STP at Dhanwapur. In addition, tenders for two more 100 MLD STPs at Behrampur and Sector-107 are scheduled to be issued by July 15.

At present, Gurugram has seven operational STPs with a combined treatment capacity of 433 MLD. Once the new facilities become operational, the city’s total sewage treatment capacity will increase to 773 MLD. Mr. Meena directed officials to ensure that the upcoming STPs are equipped with modern technology and adhere to prescribed water quality standards.

The CEO also reviewed the progress of the Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Medical College and Hospital in Sector-102. Being developed at an estimated cost of ₹679.08 crore, the project includes a 150-seat medical college and an 883-bed hospital. Officials informed that construction is in its final phase and that tenders for its operation and maintenance under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model have already been invited.

Mr. Meena directed officials to expedite the remaining work, stating that the project would significantly strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services for Gurugram residents.

Reviewing drinking water projects, officials informed that Unit-4 of the Chandu Budhera Water Treatment Plant (WTP), with a capacity of 100 MLD and developed at a cost of ₹70.20 crore, has become operational. With the commissioning of the new unit, GMDA’s total water treatment and supply capacity has increased to 670 MLD. Construction of another 100 MLD unit (Unit-5) at the same facility is also nearing completion.

The meeting also reviewed the proposed public library at Biodiversity Park in Sector-53, announced by the Chief Minister. Officials stated that tenders for the ₹5.31-crore project have been invited and the allocation process is underway.

Highlighting the significance of the project, Mr. Meena said the public library would further strengthen Gurugram’s social infrastructure by providing residents with a dedicated space for reading, learning, community engagement, and recreational activities.
