New Delhi: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman met Natalio D. Wheatley, Premier of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), in New Delhi on Monday and discussed opportunities to deepen economic and financial cooperation between India and the British Virgin Islands.
Premier Wheatley is leading a delegation of financial services experts from the BVI on a visit to India covering New Delhi, GIFT City, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
During the meeting, Wheatley said the delegation’s visit aims to expand the BVI’s engagement with India, particularly in areas such as financial services, FinTech, digital transformation, trade, investment promotion and capacity building.
Sitharaman highlighted the significant opportunities offered by India’s large and rapidly expanding financial services and investment market. She welcomed greater engagement with the BVI in areas of mutual interest and emphasised the potential for stronger collaboration across emerging financial and technology sectors.
The meeting comes amid growing efforts to strengthen international partnerships in financial services and FinTech and create new avenues for investment, innovation and knowledge exchange.
