New Delhi: India began its medal campaign at the Asian Games 2026 on a high note, securing its first medal with a silver in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Team event.
The Indian trio of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod delivered a strong performance to finish on the podium and bring home India’s first medal of the Games.
Congratulating the shooters on their achievement, Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, praised the athletes for their performance and wished them and the entire Indian contingent continued success in the competition.
The silver marks an encouraging start to Team India’s medal campaign, with the country’s athletes set to compete across various disciplines in the days ahead.
