The External Affairs Minister later held a productive meeting of the 27th IRIGC-TEC with First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. Thanking Manturov for co-chairing the key bilateral mechanism, Jaishankar said the discussions covered a wide range of areas, including trade, investments, energy, fertilizers, nuclear cooperation, connectivity, technology, space and mobility.
As the economic partnership between India and Russia enters a new phase, Jaishankar underlined the need to focus on implementation, concrete outcomes and sector-specific deliverables. He also stressed the importance of actively identifying and resolving practical challenges affecting bilateral economic cooperation.
The External Affairs Minister called for stronger engagement with businesses by aligning institutional mechanisms with industry priorities, identifying practical bottlenecks and making policy responses more effective and responsive to the needs of businesses.
He further emphasised the need to continuously reassess emerging opportunities and explore new areas of cooperation, particularly to leverage complementarities while de-risking and diversifying economic partnerships.
Jaishankar expressed confidence that the meeting would contribute significantly to deepening practical cooperation between India and Russia across multiple sectors.
The latest discussions come as New Delhi and Moscow seek to expand their economic engagement beyond traditional areas of cooperation and build stronger, more diversified and resilient trade and investment linkages.
During the visit, Jaishankar is also expected to hold meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, as India and Russia continue to strengthen their longstanding strategic partnership.
