New Delhi: BJP MP from the New Delhi Parliamentary Constituency Bansuri Swaraj addressed a press conference and questioned the Opposition’s protest over the alleged NEET paper leak issue, while defending the Central Government’s handling of the matter.

Swaraj alleged that on 20 July, an attempt was made to surround Parliament without permission, calling it a sign of “anarchy.” She said that despite this, the government remained open to dialogue.

She claimed that from 6 June to 20 July, no request or communication for discussion was received from the protesters’ side. However, as soon as a message was received, the government immediately invited representatives for talks with Union Minister J. P. Nadda.

Addressing students and youth, Bansuri Swaraj said, “The youth of my country is not a tool of anarchy; the youth of my country is the nation-builder of India.” She added that students are capable of understanding the truth and that facts cannot remain hidden from them.

‘Government’s Approach Towards Protest Was Sensitive’: Bansuri Swaraj

Talking about the protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and other groups, Swaraj said that although the movement was presented as a student protest, the government adopted a sensitive approach.

She said that when CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke returned from the United States on 6 June, Delhi Police allowed the protest arrangements at the airport until 5 PM and did not raise objections.

She claimed that as long as the protest remained peaceful, authorities did not create any obstruction.

Reiterating her earlier point, Swaraj said that no request for dialogue was made between 6 June and 20 July, but once communication was received, the government immediately offered a meeting with Nadda.

BJP Rejects Claims of Education System Collapse

Responding to allegations that India’s education system, especially the examination system, had collapsed, Bansuri Swaraj said such claims were “false and misleading.”

She highlighted that in the last three months, the National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted three major national-level examinations, including JEE, CUET, and NEET, along with necessary re-examinations.

She said that claims of a complete breakdown of the examination system were incorrect and that the government was continuously taking corrective measures.

Technology, AI and Surveillance Being Used to Strengthen Exams

The BJP MP said that the government is moving towards a more secure examination framework through computer-based testing, artificial intelligence, and advanced surveillance mechanisms.

She said the National Testing Agency has successfully conducted examinations while the government has taken immediate action against irregularities.

Swaraj said that the Modi government has also approached the court seeking a day-to-day trial in the NEET-related case and demanded strict punishment for those found guilty so that justice is delivered to affected students.

NEET Re-Examination Conducted in 37 Days, Results Declared in 25 Days

Highlighting the government’s response, Bansuri Swaraj said that the NEET re-examination was conducted within 37 days, and results were declared within 25 days.

She said technology was used to address loopholes and added that 58 per cent of candidates who qualified the examination were women.

Government’s Priority is Students’ Future: Bansuri Swaraj

Swaraj said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government consider the interests of students as the highest priority.

She said that after the paper compromise came to light on 11 May, the government took immediate action, with the Ministry of Education filing an FIR and transferring the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

She added that 13 accused persons remain in custody in connection with the case.

Concluding her remarks, Bansuri Swaraj said that protecting the future of students remains the government’s foremost priority and highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Youth-Led Development” as a foundation for building a developed India.
