ITBP DG Shatrujeet Kapur Treks 16 km to Review Amarnath Yatra Security Arrangements

Pahalgam : Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Shatrujeet Kapur, undertook a 16-kilometre on-foot trek along the pilgrimage routes of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 to personally assess the security preparedness and operational arrangements in the region.

The DG inspected both the Baltal and Pahalgam axes—two critical routes used by pilgrims undertaking the annual high-altitude journey to the sacred shrine. During the field review, he closely examined the deployment patterns, surveillance systems, logistics support, and coordination mechanisms in place to ensure the safety of devotees.

As part of his visit, he interacted directly with ITBP personnel stationed along the route, taking stock of ground-level challenges and operational readiness in the difficult mountainous terrain. He commended the troops for their professionalism, discipline, and sustained efforts in maintaining a secure and smooth pilgrimage environment under demanding conditions.

The Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 Shri Amarnath Yatra is being managed under a multi-layered security framework, with ITBP playing a key role in safeguarding pilgrims across sensitive stretches of the route. Officials noted that continuous field inspections and high-altitude patrols remain essential to ensuring uninterrupted and safe passage for devotees throughout the pilgrimage season.

The visit underscored the force’s operational commitment to pilgrim safety and its emphasis on proactive ground-level monitoring in one of the country’s most challenging security environments.
