Sanand : Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, undertaking a comprehensive review of the advanced semiconductor manufacturing complex and its production ecosystem.
During the inspection, the Prime Minister was briefed on the facility’s end-to-end capabilities in semiconductor assembly, packaging, and testing—critical stages in the global electronics supply chain. He examined the state-of-the-art infrastructure, including precision manufacturing units, high-tech cleanroom environments, and automated systems designed to ensure high reliability and quality standards in chip assembly and testing operations.
Officials highlighted how the facility has been developed as part of India’s broader strategy to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing capacity and reduce dependence on imports in this strategic sector. The project is one of the first four approved under the India Semiconductor Mission, which aims to position India as a competitive hub in the global semiconductor value chain.
Built with a total investment exceeding ₹7,500 crore, the CG Semi OSAT facility represents a significant milestone in India’s push toward self-reliance in electronics manufacturing. The unit is expected to contribute to the growing demand for semiconductors across sectors such as automotive electronics, telecommunications, consumer devices, and industrial applications.
The visit also underscored the government’s focus on attracting global investment and fostering technology partnerships to accelerate the development of a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the country.
