Tehran: Iran has proposed the creation of a regional security and military alliance involving neighbouring countries, signalling a shift towards greater regional cooperation independent of external powers.
According to an official statement by an Iranian military spokesperson, the proposed “Regional Security and Military Union” would exclude both the United States and Israel, emphasising self-reliance in ensuring stability across the region.
The spokesperson questioned the role of distant powers, stating that regional nations do not require external intervention for their security needs and should instead focus on strengthening internal cooperation.
Highlighting historical lessons, the statement referenced past regional conflicts, stressing the need to avoid earlier strategic miscalculations. It underscored that collective security can only be achieved through unity among regional countries.
The proposal is being viewed as a significant geopolitical signal, reflecting Iran’s push for a new security framework driven by regional partnerships rather than external alliances.
