New Delhi :Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticized the opposition for allegedly politicising the ongoing tensions in West Asia, accusing the Congress and Left parties of spreading rumours and creating unnecessary fear among citizens.
Addressing a public gathering, Modi acknowledged that the situation in the Middle East has caused concern, especially because a large number of Indians live and work in the region. He assured that the government remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of Indian nationals abroad and would deploy all necessary resources to assist them during any crisis.
Allegations Against Opposition
The Prime Minister accused the Indian National Congress of attempting to exploit the international crisis for political gains. According to him, irresponsible statements by opposition leaders could create confusion and anxiety among Indians living overseas.
He said the government is in constant contact with friendly countries in the Gulf region and expressed confidence that Indian citizens there are being looked after properly.
Modi further alleged that the Congress and Left parties were spreading misinformation and fear at a time when unity and responsible communication were needed.
Emphasis on Self-Reliance
Highlighting the importance of the government’s self-reliance initiative, Modi said the current global situation once again demonstrates the need for India to reduce dependence on foreign countries.
Referring to the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, he said the government is working to strengthen domestic capabilities across sectors, particularly in energy.
He noted that India has significantly expanded its solar energy capacity in recent years and is also promoting electric vehicles to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel imports. Solar power projects are also being developed in states such as Kerala, he added.
The Prime Minister said such steps would help the country become more resilient during global crises and ensure long-term energy security.
