New Delhi : Political activity has intensified across several states ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections 2026, with the Bharatiya Janata Party releasing its first list of nine candidates for the upcoming parliamentary polls. The list, announced by the party’s Central Election Committee, includes nominees from Bihar, Assam, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and West Bengal, highlighting the BJP’s election strategy for the Upper House of Parliament.
From Bihar, the BJP has nominated state party president Nitin Naveen as its Rajya Sabha candidate, a move being viewed as significant in Bihar’s political landscape and the BJP’s national parliamentary strategy. Along with him, Shivesh Kumar has also been fielded by the party from the state.
In Assam, the party has announced the candidature of Terash Gowalla and Jogen Mohan for the Rajya Sabha elections. Meanwhile, from Chhattisgarh, Laxmi Verma has been named as the BJP’s nominee.
From Haryana, the party has selected Sanjay Bhatia as its candidate, while in Odisha, the BJP has nominated Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar for the Upper House elections. In West Bengal, senior BJP leader Rahul Sinha has been announced as the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate.
With the announcement of this first list of Rajya Sabha candidates, the BJP has formally kicked off its campaign for the Rajya Sabha polls, parliamentary elections strategy, and state-wise political representation in Parliament. Political observers expect more candidate lists from major political parties soon, as national politics, party nominations, and election preparations gather momentum across India.
