University of Delhi Announces Official Launch of Smart India Hackathon 2026 Problem Statements

New Delhi: The University of Delhi has announced the official launch of the problem statements for the 9th edition of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026, opening up a major opportunity for students and innovators across the country to develop technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

The launch marks the beginning of this year’s edition of the nationwide innovation initiative, which encourages young innovators to harness technology, creativity and innovative thinking to contribute towards building a smarter and more self-reliant India. Smart India Hackathon serves as a national platform that connects students with real challenges from government, industry and society.

The official launch was scheduled for August 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM and was conducted virtually through YouTube Live. Prof. Yogesh Singh, Chairman, AICTE, was scheduled to lead the launch event. The process for team nomination and idea submission also opened on August 21.

The 9th edition of SIH is expected to provide students with an opportunity to transform their ideas into practical solutions while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and problem-solving across the country.
