Gurugram: Gurugram Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Monitoring Portal, developed by the Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department, will significantly improve the monitoring and transparency of waste management operations across the city.
Speaking at a one-day training programme organised at the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) office, Dahiya said the portal will enable real-time monitoring of door-to-door waste collection, road sweeping, waste transportation, vehicles and manpower, making the entire system more accountable and technology-driven.
The training programme was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, sanitation officials, supervisors and representatives of agencies engaged in solid waste management.
Officials explained the portal’s registration process and operational framework, directing all agencies to mandatorily register their vehicles, sanitation workers and waste collection operations on the platform. Work will also be assigned area-wise through the portal to facilitate effective monitoring.
The Municipal Commissioner stated that future payments to agencies will be made only on the basis of records available on the SWM Monitoring Portal. Only registered vehicles and manpower with verified work records on the portal will be eligible for payment. Agencies have also been instructed to ensure that registered resources operate strictly within their assigned areas, failing which payments may be withheld.
Dahiya said the portal marks a major step towards making Gurugram’s solid waste management system transparent, efficient and accountable. It will help authorities track the deployment of vehicles and manpower in real time, assess the quality of sanitation services and ensure optimum utilisation of resources.
He directed all officials and implementing agencies to complete the registration of their vehicles and workforce within the stipulated timeline and ensure regular use of the portal. He added that the initiative is aimed not only at digitising the payment process but also at creating a more efficient, results-oriented waste management system to support the goal of a cleaner and better Gurugram.
