Tri-Service HADR Exercise Focuses on Joint Planning, Operational Coordination and Interoperability for Large-Scale Disaster Response

New Delhi : The opening ceremony of the fifth edition of Exercise Tiger Triumph 2026, the India–US Bilateral Tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, was held at the Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC), Visakhapatnam, on November 2, 2026.

The exercise brings together the Armed Forces of India and the United States to strengthen cooperation, enhance operational coordination and improve interoperability during large-scale humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

Unlike previous editions involving field-based activities, this year’s exercise is being conducted in a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) format, providing a structured platform for military planners and participating personnel from both countries to discuss operational scenarios, develop joint response strategies and coordinate their respective capabilities for complex disaster-relief situations.

The present edition aims to further strengthen interoperability between the three services of both countries and facilitate the conduct of Combined Joint All-Domain Operations (CJADO), with particular emphasis on joint planning and coordination for large-scale HADR missions.

Exercise Tiger Triumph reflects the growing convergence of India and the United States on strategic maritime interests and underscores the expanding defence partnership between the two countries. It also highlights their shared commitment to regional stability, humanitarian assistance and effective disaster response.

Through enhanced joint planning, coordinated decision-making and greater understanding of each other’s operational capabilities, the exercise seeks to strengthen the ability of both militaries to respond collectively to humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters.

The exercise reinforces India–US defence cooperation and their shared resolve to promote a coordinated, effective and timely humanitarian response across the region.
