US-India Defence Partnership in Focus
New Delhi: The United States Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, has shared details of his visit to the United States Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), highlighting efforts to strengthen defence cooperation, maritime security and joint military preparedness.
The visit also comes at a time when the United States and India continue to expand their strategic and defence partnership, with cooperation growing in areas such as maritime security, military exercises, technology sharing and regional stability. The discussions at the United States Pacific Command underline the importance of coordinated efforts among partner nations to maintain peace, security and stability across the Indo-Pacific.
Sharing an update on his official engagement, Ambassador Sergio Gor said that his visit to the United States Pacific Command was highly productive and provided an opportunity to hold discussions with senior regional military commanders.
In a statement shared on “X”, Ambassador Gor said:
“It was great to visit the United States Pacific Command. Productive discussions with regional commanders Adm. Koehler (@USPacificFleet), Gen. Schneider (@PACAF), and Gen. Clark (@USARPAC). Together with our allies and partners, we are accelerating high-end defense cooperation, maritime awareness, and joint readiness!”
Focus on High-End Defence Cooperation
During the visit, Ambassador Gor interacted with senior commanders overseeing key components of the US military’s Indo-Pacific operations, including:
- Admiral Koehler of the United States Pacific Fleet (US Pacific Fleet),
- General Schneider of the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), and
- General Clark of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC).
The discussions focused on enhancing defence cooperation, strengthening operational coordination and improving readiness among allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
Strengthening Maritime Security and Regional Preparedness
Ambassador Gor emphasized that the United States, along with its allies and partners, is working towards expanding cooperation in areas including:
- Advanced defence capabilities,
- Maritime domain awareness,
- Joint military readiness, and
- Regional security coordination.
The engagement reflects Washington’s continued focus on building stronger partnerships in the Indo-Pacific amid evolving security challenges.
