Gurugram : Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Uttam Singh chaired a meeting with representatives of various political parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of the electoral rolls. During the meeting, he urged all political parties to appoint their Booth Level Agents-2 (BLA-2s) at the earliest to ensure the smooth and successful completion of the revision exercise.
The DC stated that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to remove the names of deceased voters, eliminate duplicate entries, update details of shifted voters, and enroll newly eligible citizens in the electoral rolls. He emphasized that the exercise is essential for maintaining a clean, accurate, and updated voter list to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
Highlighting the significance of the exercise, Uttam Singh informed that the Special Intensive Revision is being conducted in Haryana after a gap of 24 years, with the last such revision having taken place in 2002. He said the enumeration process will begin from June 15, 2026, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to collect voter-related information.
As per the schedule shared during the meeting, the rationalization of polling stations will be completed by July 14, while the draft electoral roll will be published on July 21, 2026. Claims and objections can be submitted between July 21 and August 20, and these will be disposed of by September 18. The final voter list is scheduled to be published on September 22, 2026.
The District Election Officer said BLOs and BLAs play a crucial role in preparing an accurate electoral roll. To simplify the process, a hybrid system combining both online and offline methods has been introduced for filling enumeration forms and submitting documents.
He informed that voters can fill out the enumeration forms online through the Election Commission’s portal by visiting the website or scanning the designated QR code. The online facility aims to make the revision process more accessible and convenient for citizens.
Uttam Singh further stated that Booth Level Agents will play a key role in spreading awareness among voters regarding the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Their responsibilities will include guiding voters about the required documents, assisting them in filling enumeration forms, and collecting completed forms for submission to the concerned Booth Level Officers.
The meeting was attended by SDM Badshahpur Sanjeev Singla, Election Tehsildar Rajendra Hooda, and representatives of various political parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress.
