New Delhi /Warangal : Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the PM MITRA Park in Warangal, Telangana, marking a major milestone in India’s textile and industrial development journey. Developed at a cost of ₹1,695.54 crore, the Warangal facility has become the country’s first operational PM MITRA Park and is aimed at strengthening India’s integrated textile ecosystem under the Government’s 5F vision — “Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.”

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the project, the Prime Minister said the PM MITRA Park would accelerate the textile revolution in India and generate large-scale employment opportunities, particularly for women.

Strategically located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and close to National Highway-163, the park offers strong multimodal connectivity to railway networks and seaports, facilitating efficient logistics and global trade access.

Spread across 1,327 acres, the park has been designed as a world-class textile manufacturing ecosystem with modern infrastructure facilities, including an extensive internal road network, dedicated power substation and assured water supply. The project also incorporates sustainable infrastructure through a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) equipped with Zero Liquid Discharge technology.

Officials said the PM MITRA Park is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹6,000 crore and generate more than 24,400 jobs across the textile value chain. Significant progress has already been achieved, with around 62 per cent of the park area already allotted to industries.

The Ministry of Textiles had approved the establishment of seven PM MITRA Parks across Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh in March 2023 to strengthen integrated textile infrastructure and create globally competitive manufacturing hubs in the country.

The Telangana Government had proposed the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) at Warangal under the PM MITRA scheme in 2022 to expand industrial infrastructure and facilitate textile investments in the region. Following approval under the brownfield category, the project became eligible for development capital support of ₹200 crore and Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) of ₹300 crore for industries being established within the park.

The Detailed Project Report for the Warangal PM MITRA Park included expanded common infrastructure facilities such as the upgradation of the CETP into a Zero Liquid Discharge facility, a common boiler facility for processing units, expansion of worker dormitories and a 10 MW solar power plant.

Out of the total 548 acres allotted to industries within the park, around 310 acres have been allotted after the PM MITRA announcement, reflecting strong investor interest in the project.

Industries operating within the park will have access to globally benchmarked textile infrastructure along with benefits under various Government of India schemes, including the Competitive Incentive Support provided under the PM MITRA scheme.

The government highlighted that the scheme has also been aligned with the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles to attract fresh investments. One such beneficiary, Evertop Textile and Apparel Complex Pvt. Ltd., is expected to generate employment for nearly 12,800 people through an investment of approximately ₹1,051 crore and an estimated annual turnover of ₹1,990 crore.

Officials stated that the PM MITRA scheme not only provides central financial assistance but also strengthens investor confidence, promotes shared modern infrastructure and integrates textile parks into India’s broader national textile strategy. With its inclusion under the PM MITRA initiative, the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park has effectively been elevated from a state-level industrial park into a nationally prioritised and globally positioned textile manufacturing ecosystem.
