Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Holds Talks with Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Boosts India–Qatar Energy and Strategic Ties

New Delhi :  Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, expressed satisfaction over his meeting with Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, in Doha during his two-day visit to Qatar,. The meeting focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, along with broader strategic engagement.

On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Minister conveyed greetings and a message of solidarity to  Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as to Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. He also recalled the two telephonic conversations held in March 2026 between Prime Minister Modi and the Emir of Qatar, during which both leaders emphasized the urgent need to restore peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. The Minister conveyed gratitude for the care and support extended by Qatar to the Indian community.

The discussions covered all aspects of the IndiaQatar strategic partnership, including high-level engagements, trade, investment, energy cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties. Both sides expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral relations and reiterated the importance of peace and stability in the region.

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to remain a reliable energy supplier and expressed his willingness to further deepen energy cooperation with India.

Welcoming the two-week ceasefire announced on April 8, both sides stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted global energy supplies. They also underlined the need for unimpeded freedom of navigation and the smooth flow of global commerce to maintain resilient international supply chains.
