India Has Sufficient Fuel Stocks, Don’t Panic : Petroleum Ministry

New Delhi : The government has reassured citizens about fuel availability in India, urging people not to indulge in panic buying amid reports of rush at petrol pumps.

Speaking on the issue, Sujata Sharma , Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refinery), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas stated that India has the capacity to refine around 26 crore tonnes of crude oil annually, ensuring adequate supply of petroleum products.

She noted that over the past two days, long queues and panic buying at petrol pumps have been observed in several areas due to rumours. However, she categorically clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel anywhere in the country.

Officials confirmed that fuel stocks at retail outlets as well as supply terminals are sufficient, and distribution is continuing smoothly without disruption.

The government has also made it clear that petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged, dismissing speculation about any hike.

Citizens have been advised to ignore misinformation on fuel shortage, avoid panic purchases, and rely only on official updates.
