Gurugram : A high-level meeting chaired by Pradeep Dahiya, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram, addressed key demands of the Sanitation Workers’ Union, with several important decisions taken to improve sanitation workers’ welfare, salaries, and working conditions.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on issues related to social security, ESIC coverage, promotions, and employee benefits. Taking serious note of pending cases, the Commissioner directed officials to expedite the issuance of ESIC cards and ensure proper documentation, with weekly progress reports to be submitted. A nodal officer has been designated to oversee and resolve all union-related matters, while instructions have been issued to provide identity cards to all Group C and D employees by May 2026 and review cases of workers not yet on official rolls.
The administration also decided to approach the government regarding a salary hike for municipal and Panchayat employees, while seeking clarity on wage payments during strike periods. Pending arrears of employees, including those recruited in 2018 and sewer workers, will be verified for timely disbursement. Applications under the ACP scheme will be processed through the union, and allowances such as soap and oil will be implemented as per government norms.
In a move towards digitisation, an online portal for sanitation workers will be developed to enable easy access to salary slips through OTP-based authentication. Directions were also issued to resolve matters related to legal heir certificates and maternity benefits.
With summer approaching, revised duty hours for sanitation workers have been fixed from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM from April 1, 2026, including a one-hour break. To strengthen sanitation services in Gurugram, procurement of 300 rickshaw carts and 200 handcarts has also been approved.
The Commissioner further directed that all pending promotions be completed by April 15, 2026, and that supervisors be appointed on the basis of seniority. Emphasising accountability, he instructed officials to ensure timely implementation of all decisions and submit regular progress reports.
