New Delhi : The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, has approved financial support for M/s Electrowaves Electronics Pvt. Ltd., Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. The support will help the company commercialise indigenously designed and manufactured electric vehicle (EV) chargers, advancing India’s goal of clean mobility and self-reliance. This initiative also supports the government’s push for Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing dependence on imported charging solutions and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in India.
Electrowaves Electronics has developed in-house AC and DC fast chargers along with key components like power modules, insulation monitoring devices, and communication controllers. Their DC fast chargers operate in the 30–240 kW range and include:
-
15 kW & 30 kW power converter modules (100–1000 VDC output, up to 100A)
-
PLC Communication Controller (compliant with DIN SPEC 70121 and partially ISO 15118)
-
OCPP Communication Controller (fully compliant with OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1)
-
Universal DC charge controller with a complete HMI design
The company has also developed AC Type-2 chargers suitable for both domestic and public use, increasing the availability of high-efficiency, India-made EV charging systems.
TDB’s support is expected to strengthen India’s electric mobility ecosystem by scaling production of competitive EV chargers, improving accessibility, and supporting the country’s net-zero emissions target. It will also reinforce supply chains in the clean-tech and energy sectors, boosting India’s competitiveness globally.
Shri Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of TDB, said, “The company’s work in developing and commercialising indigenous EV chargers reflects India’s commitment to innovation-driven self-reliance. Projects like this enhance energy security, promote sustainable industrial growth, and accelerate the transition to clean mobility.”
Promoters of Electrowaves Electronics expressed gratitude for TDB’s support, noting that it will help expand manufacturing capacity and contribute to India’s clean energy future.
This initiative highlights TDB’s ongoing commitment to promoting indigenous technology, supporting Make in India, and building strong domestic capabilities in next-generation transportation systems.
