New Delhi :  Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, an indigenously built stealth frigate, conducted an exercise with the Philippine Navy before making a port call in Manila, Philippines, for the harbour phase of its deployment.

The ship is on an operational deployment in the Indo-Pacific, taking part in multiple multilateral and bilateral naval exercises, including MALABAR-2025, AUSINDEX-2025, JAIMEX-25, and its first-ever bilateral exercise with the Republic of Korea Navy.

During the exercise with the Philippine Navy, both navies carried out tactical communication drills, navigation manoeuvres, Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) drills, and flying operations, strengthening professional coordination and mutual understanding.

The harbour phase will include professional exchanges, cross-deck visits, and subject matter expert interactions. Cultural activities are also planned, such as friendly sports, joint yoga sessions, and visits to an orphanage.

The visit of INS Sahyadri highlights India’s commitment to deepening ties with the Philippines and growing cooperation between the two navies. It also reinforces efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, in line with India’s Act East Policy and SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision.
