New Delhi :  President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the third edition of the Indian Army’s Chanakya Defence Dialogue in New Delhi today, marking the start of an important discussion on national security.  During her speech, the President said that the Indian Armed Forces have always shown high professionalism and strong patriotism while protecting the country. She said that whether it is a regular security challenge, counter-insurgency, or humanitarian work, the forces have always shown great courage and flexibility.

She mentioned the recent success of Operation Sindoor, calling it an important milestone in India’s fight against terrorism. She added that the world has noticed both India’s military strength and its responsible approach toward peace. She also said that the defence forces play a major role in national development by improving infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, and education in border areas.

The President highlighted that today’s global situation is changing fast because of power struggles, new technologies, and shifting international partnerships. She noted that new areas like cyber, space, information, and cognitive warfare are creating challenges. She said India follows the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), and continues to balance strategic independence with global responsibility. She added that India seeks peace but is always ready to protect its borders and people.

The President was pleased that the Army is undergoing major reforms under its “Decade of Transformation”. She said the Army is changing its structures, updating its doctrines, and building new capabilities to be future-ready. She expressed confidence that these reforms will help India become more self-reliant in defence.

She also noted that the Army is investing in young people, promoting patriotism through education, NCC activities, and sports. She said that giving more opportunities and responsibilities to young women officers and soldiers will encourage greater inclusion and inspire more women to join the Army and other fields.

The President said she is confident that the discussions at Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 will offer useful ideas for policymakers. She also expressed faith that the armed forces will continue to work with dedication and help India achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
