-4 History sheets opened, crackdown on organized crime intensifies
Chandigarh : Haryana Police has launched Operation Trackdown, to be conducted across the state from November 5 to 20, 2025, with exceptional planning and strategy. The primary objective of this mission is to swiftly bring absconding criminals involved in serious offenses like shootings, extortion, kidnapping, and murder under the purview of law and dismantle their criminal networks completely. Haryana Police made a historic beginning on November 5 by arresting 32 notorious criminals on the first day itself, marking one of the biggest single-day actions in recent times. The operation is being directly led by IG Crime, Rakesh Arya, who has also shared his personal contact number (90342 90495) to encourage citizens to confidentially share information with the police.
Historic success on Day One: 32 accused nabbed
On the very first day of the operation, i.e., November 5, Haryana Police set a benchmark by arresting 32 most-wanted and notorious offenders across the state. Additionally, history sheets of 4 accused were opened to update their criminal records and facilitate future actions such as bail cancellation and strong legal provisions leading to their custody. This achievement is not just about numbers—it reflects the readiness and commitment of Haryana Police to combat crime effectively and decisively at the grassroots level.
Direct accountability for SHOs and DSPs, district-wise targets defined
Under ‘Operation Trackdown,’ every police station is tasked with identifying the “Top 5 Most Notorious” criminals in its jurisdiction and ensuring their arrest, surrender, or cancellation of bail. Similarly, every district and police zone will prepare a list of the “Top 10 Most Notorious” criminals, with SPs, DCPs, or CPs being held fully accountable for action. At the state level, STF will draw up a list of the “Top 20 Most Notorious” criminals and take the toughest possible action against them. Importantly, if any listed criminal commits a fresh offense, the concerned SHO or DSP will be held directly responsible—emphasizing that prevention is just as important as arrest.
Coordination with neighboring states
Haryana Police has ensured that the scope of the operation is not limited to state boundaries. Collaboration has been strengthened with Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh Police. Joint raids, border checkpoints, and warrant execution are being carried out in border districts to ensure that no absconding criminal can evade law by crossing state lines. This forms a robust interstate network that enables real-time information sharing and swift custody transfers.
Transparency and direct public involvement
To increase the effectiveness of this operation with public participation, Haryana Police has opened direct channels for citizens to share information. The public release of IG Crime Rakesh Arya’s personal number is a strong symbol of police transparency and public trust. It sends a clear message that the fight against crime is a shared responsibility between the police and the people.
Focus on results, not rhetoric
The focus of this mission is not merely on action but on measurable outcomes—how many arrests were made, whose bail was canceled, whose illegal properties were seized, and how many fresh crimes were prevented. From police stations to the STF, progress will be evaluated purely on results. The success of Day One makes it abundantly clear that “Operation Trackdown” is poised to become a ‘no-place-to-hide’ crackdown on criminals across Haryana.
