New Delhi /Canberra: Indian High Commissioner to Australia Nagesh Singh met former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison AC, with the two discussing the strong and enduring partnership between India and Australia and the deep-rooted ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Morrison fondly recalled his warm and close friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the personal rapport that developed between the two leaders during his tenure as Australian Prime Minister.

Recalling his warm and close friendship with Prime Minister of India @narendramodi , they reflected on the strong India–Australia partnership and the enduring ties between the two countries. “
The close relationship between Prime Minister Modi and Scott Morrison played an important role in strengthening India-Australia bilateral ties. The two leaders developed a strong personal bond through regular meetings and engagements, particularly during the period when both countries elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Their camaraderie was also visible during several high-level engagements, including the Quad meetings and bilateral summits. Modi and Morrison frequently described the relationship between India and Australia as being rooted not only in strategic interests but also in shared democratic values, mutual trust and strong people-to-people connections.
The meeting between Nagesh Singh and Morrison comes as India and Australia continue to deepen their strategic partnership, with cooperation expanding across trade and investment, defence and security, education, critical technologies, energy and other areas.
Earlier in July 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Scott Morrison also met in Melbourne, where they discussed the progress of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the enduring friendship between the two countries.
