Paris: Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in France, Ms. Eenam Gambhir, paid solemn tribute to the victims of the tragic 1950 and 1966 Air India air crashes at the memorial located at Nid d’Aigle on Mont Blanc.
The commemorative ceremony marked the seventh anniversary of the memorial’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The memorial honours those who lost their lives in the two devastating Air India crashes in the Mont Blanc region.
The 1966 Air India crash also claimed the life of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, the pioneering Indian nuclear physicist widely regarded as the architect of India’s nuclear programme.
Ms. Gambhir expressed gratitude to Mayor Jean-Marc Peillex and the municipality of Saint-Gervais for organising the commemorative ceremony. She also visited the Le Fayet cemetery, where she paid tribute to the victims.
The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of the lives lost in the two tragic accidents and reflected India’s continued commitment to preserving the memory of the victims.
