New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu addressed the Inaugural Congress of the Asian Oceanian Society of Breast Imaging (AOSBI) on Friday, underscoring the importance of strengthening early detection of breast cancer and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for women.
Addressing the gathering of medical professionals, researchers, and healthcare experts, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that timely screening and diagnosis are critical to improving breast cancer outcomes and saving lives.
Highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare, he referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, stating, “Preventive healthcare is the need of the hour.”
The Lieutenant Governor said that greater emphasis must be placed on creating awareness, expanding access to advanced diagnostic facilities, and strengthening healthcare systems to ensure that breast cancer is detected at an early stage.
Shri Sandhu stressed that every woman should have access to timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and compassionate care, irrespective of her socio-economic background or place of residence.
The LG also highlighted the need for collaboration among governments, healthcare institutions, medical professionals, and research organisations to improve breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment while promoting awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups.
The Asian Oceanian Society of Breast Imaging (AOSBI) Congress brings together experts from across the region to discuss the latest advancements in breast imaging, early diagnosis, and cancer care, with the objective of improving healthcare outcomes and strengthening international cooperation in the field of breast health.
