Gurugram : The sixth general meeting of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram House was held on Monday at the Haryana Institute of Public Administration in Sector-18, Gurugram under the chairmanship of Mayor Rajrani Malhotra. The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on a wide range of civic and development-related issues, including sanitation systems, sewerage infrastructure, drinking water supply, road construction, encroachment removal, and various public welfare projects aimed at improving urban infrastructure and civic amenities across the city. Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, along with councillors, nominated members, and senior officials from various departments, attended the session.
During the proceedings, the Corporation House placed special emphasis on strengthening basic civic infrastructure, improving sanitation services, and ensuring the timely resolution of citizens’ grievances. Councillors from different wards raised several local issues concerning sewer line upgrades, waterlogging, community centre construction, beautification of parks and ponds, road repairs, and improvement of street lighting systems in their respective areas.
Several important proposals were discussed and approved during the meeting. These included providing incentive payments to authorised plumbers, measures to curb illegal water connections, allocation of land for Vita milk booths, auctioning commercial properties belonging to Vyapar Sadan, and land allocation for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. The House also stressed the need to accelerate development works and improve coordination among different government departments for smoother implementation of civic projects.
Among the major decisions taken, proposals were approved regarding the sale of certain unused revenue-designated pathways located within residential societies in Ward-5 to the respective builders. During the meeting, Ward-2 Councillor Jyotsna Yadav raised concerns over the demolition of a public water cooler installed in DLF Phase-2 by the DTP (Enforcement) department without prior notice or adequate time for relocation. Following the discussion, the House passed a resolution condemning the incident. The Corporation House also reached a consensus to forward a proposal to the Education Department regarding the appointment of Sewadars and Chowkidars in government schools. Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that complaints would be sent to the Additional Chief Secretaries of departments whose officials failed to attend the meeting.
The House also approved proposals submitted by Ward-15 Councillor Bharti Harsana, including the construction of a community centre in Dhumsapur village by the Municipal Corporation and the development of an indoor stadium by HSVP on a plot measuring around 3,000 square yards between Sheeshpal Vihar and South City. Similarly, Ward-29 Councillor Usha Verma proposed the development of public toilet facilities within her ward and the removal of encroachments from HSVP land near Kutiya Mandir to facilitate the construction of a community centre and public park.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Rajrani Malhotra stated that the Municipal Corporation House serves as an important platform for decisions related to public welfare and urban development. She said the Corporation, along with elected representatives and officials, is continuously working towards transforming Gurugram into a clean, organised, and well-developed city. She assured that all public-interest matters raised during the House meeting would be addressed on priority and reiterated that providing improved civic amenities to residents remains the Corporation’s top priority.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya highlighted that constructive discussions were held on several important issues concerning the city’s overall development. He directed officials to ensure time-bound implementation of all resolutions and decisions passed during the meeting. According to him, the Municipal Corporation is consistently working towards strengthening Gurugram’s infrastructure, improving sanitation systems, and enhancing the delivery of civic services through coordinated efforts among all departments.
In another important development discussed during the session, Haryana Forest Development Corporation Limited sought the consent of the Municipal Corporation for the development, management, and operation of the Nature Camp located in Bhondsi. The proposal, approved unanimously by the House, stated that the project would be executed through third-party expert agencies following the approval granted during the 143rd meeting of the corporation’s Board of Directors. The Municipal Corporation was also requested to nominate a representative for the Technical Bid Analysis Committee to facilitate the smooth execution of the project without delays.
