India-EU Trade and Technology Council Reviews Progress on Clean and Green Technology Cooperation Ahead of Ministerial Meeting

New Delhi: Prof. Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, and Mr. Lemaître, Director-General for Research & Innovation at the European Commission, co-chaired the stocktaking meeting of Working Group 2 on Clean and Green Technologies under the India–European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC).

The meeting was held ahead of the third India–EU TTC Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to take place in Brussels on 15 July 2026, and focused on reviewing progress, achievements, and future priorities in the area of clean technology cooperation between India and the European Union.

During the discussions, Dr. Parvinder Maini, Scientific Secretary, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA), shared remarks on the future roadmap and key areas of engagement.

A joint presentation was delivered by Ms. Nienke Buisman from the European Commission and Dr. Rakesh Kaur, Adviser/Scientist G, OPSA, highlighting the major achievements and deliverables accomplished under Working Group 2.

The participants reviewed advancements in collaborative research and innovation initiatives and discussed priorities for the next phase of cooperation. Key areas of focus included accelerating implementation through pilot projects and technology testing, promoting standards convergence, strengthening institutional partnerships, increasing industry participation, and developing a targeted agenda aimed at achieving measurable outcomes.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Hafsa Ahmad, Scientist D, OPSA; Mr. Antonio Marquez-Camacho, Policy Officer, Directorate-General for Research & Innovation, European Commission; and Dr. Vivek Dham, Adviser, Delegation of the European Union to India.

The discussions reflected the strong commitment of India and the EU to advancing cooperation in clean and sustainable technologies while promoting innovation-led solutions to address global environmental challenges.
