Piyush Goyal Meets Finland’s Deputy PM Riikka Purra, Discusses Trade, Investment and India-EU FTA

Brussels: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held talks with Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Riikka Purra, to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new avenues of collaboration between India and Finland.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to deepen economic and financial cooperation, enhance bilateral trade and investment, and expand partnerships in digitalisation and other emerging sectors. The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both countries to fostering innovation-driven growth and strengthening economic ties.

The leaders also explored opportunities to further advance India-Finland engagement through the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (India-EU FTA). Goyal emphasised that the agreement has the potential to unlock greater business opportunities, facilitate investment flows and create a stronger framework for collaboration across key sectors of the economy.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of India and Finland to expanding their strategic economic partnership and leveraging the India-EU FTA to promote sustainable growth, technological cooperation and mutually beneficial trade relations.
