PM Modi to Attend Somnath Amrut Mahotsav in Gujarat on May 10

New Delhi : Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on May 10 and 11, 2026, where he will participate in major religious, cultural, and educational programmes in Somnath and Vadodara.

The Prime Minister will arrive in Jamnagar late on the night of May 10 before commencing his official engagements the following day.

On May 11, at around 10:15 AM, the Prime Minister will participate in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav at the sacred Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites. The celebrations mark 75 years since the inauguration of the reconstructed Somnath Temple, symbolizing India’s spiritual resilience and civilisational heritage.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will participate in a series of religious and cultural ceremonies, including the Vishesh Maha Puja, Kumbhabhishek, and Dhvajarohan rituals, which are considered highly auspicious in Hindu tradition. The ceremonies will include consecration rituals and the ceremonial hoisting of the temple flag.

As part of the commemorative celebrations, Prime Minister Modi will also release a special commemorative stamp and coin dedicated to the Somnath Temple, honouring its historical, cultural, and spiritual significance.

Following the Somnath programme, the Prime Minister will travel to Vadodara, where he is scheduled to inaugurate the Sardardham Hostel at around 6 PM.

The Sardardham Hostel project has been developed to provide modern residential and educational facilities for students, with accommodation capacity for 1,000 boys and 1,000 girls. The complex includes several modern amenities such as a central dining hall, library, auditorium, and e-library facilities aimed at supporting academic growth and student welfare.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will also tour various sections of the Sardardham complex, including reception facilities, civil infrastructure, dining areas, and digital learning spaces.

The visit reflects the Government’s continued emphasis on preserving India’s cultural and spiritual heritage while simultaneously investing in youth development and educational infrastructure.
