New Delhi : Following a statement by the White House that attacks on Lebanon would not be treated as a violation of the ceasefire, several world leaders have issued strong reactions, expressing concern over the escalating situation.

Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez condemned the strikes, stating that Spain strongly opposes Israel’s actions in Lebanon. Similarly, President of France Emmanuel Macron criticised what he described as indiscriminate attacks and called for Lebanon to be included within the ceasefire framework.

From Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni warned that the strikes risk further escalating tensions and could violate established norms. Australian PM Anthony Albanese also emphasised that civilian safety must remain a priority and urged adherence to international law.

Despite these reactions, there are indications that the criticism may have limited influence on the United States position. Donald Trump has reportedly dismissed such concerns, while Vice President J. D. Vance, who is leading negotiations with Iran, is also said to have rejected them, maintaining a firm stance.

The differing positions underscore growing divisions among global powers as tensions in the region continue to rise.
