New Delhi : The Aircrew Examining Board, entrusted with upholding the highest standards of flying in the Indian Air Force, organised the valedictory function for its 23rd CIRIE Course on 27 February 2026 at Air Force Station Hindan. The prestigious six-week programme highlighted the IAF’s continued commitment to excellence in aviation training and operational capability.
The ceremony was reviewed by Tejbir Singh, Air Marshal, AVSM, VM, Director General (Inspection & Safety), whose extensive operational experience added significance to the occasion. During the event, Wing Commander Deepak Awasthi, Wing Commander Vishal Joshi and Wing Commander Rohit Tiwari were felicitated by the reviewing officer for securing first position in the order of merit among aircrew from fighter, transport and helicopter fleets, respectively.
The course, conducted over six intensive weeks, comprised four weeks of comprehensive ground training followed by two weeks of flying training. This blended training approach enabled officers to master the complexities of evaluating instrument flying—an essential skill for modern air operations, particularly in adverse weather conditions and demanding tactical scenarios.
A total of 40 officers graduated from the elite programme. The participants included 32 officers from the Indian Air Force, two officers from the Indian Army, two officers from the Indian Navy, and four officers from friendly foreign nations—Kenya, Uganda and Madagascar. The course reflects growing tri-service synergy and reinforces the Indian Air Force’s role as a global knowledge hub in aviation training and safety.
