Haryana Police’s 24-Hour Mega Operation : 285 Criminals Arrested, Major Blow to Drug Network

Chandigarh : In a significant move to further strengthen law and order in the state, the Haryana Police conducted a comprehensive and decisive operation against criminals over the past 24 hours. During this statewide operation, a total of 285 accused, including 37 hardened criminals, were arrested. Under the ‘zero tolerance’ policy, this operation proved to be a direct and effective blow against organized crime, drug trafficking, illegal weapons, cybercrime, and anti-social activities.

Strict Action Against Hardened Criminals and Illegal Weapons

Cracking down on elements involved in serious criminal cases, the police arrested 37 notorious criminals involved in crimes such as murder, robbery, and dacoity. Six proclaimed offenders, who had been absconding for a long time, were also apprehended and brought under the purview of the judicial process. In action taken to curb illegal weapons, 8 cases were registered under the Arms Act, and 11 accused were arrested. The police recovered 6 country-made pistols, 28 live cartridges, and one magazine, thus preventing potential criminal incidents.

Decisive Blow to Drug Trafficking Network

Towards realizing the goal of a drug-free Haryana, the police took strict action against drug traffickers, registering 14 cases under the NDPS Act and arresting 26 traffickers. During the operation, 31 kg of cannabis, 16 grams of heroin, 32 grams of smack, 13 kg of poppy husk, 135 prohibited tablets, one car, two motorcycles, and ₹50,000 in cash were recovered. This action is considered a major success in dismantling the organized drug network.

Extensive Enforcement of Traffic Discipline

A special campaign was launched against traffic rule violations to ensure road safety and curb accidents. During this period, 10,725 challans (fines) were issued under the Motor Vehicles Act. This action was not merely punitive but also a significant step towards raising awareness among citizens about traffic rules and encouraging responsible behavior.

The Haryana Police also demonstrated that its role is not limited to law enforcement but also includes assisting the common man in times of crisis. Out of 3,588 calls received on Dial-112, prompt action was taken on 3,130. The police saved the lives of 102 people injured in road accidents by transporting them to hospitals on time. Additionally, food and assistance were provided to 544 needy and homeless people during the harsh winter. To further strengthen security arrangements, 384 checkpoints were set up at night, where 4,740 police personnel and 1,500 patrolling vehicles were deployed.

District-wise Performance: Gurugram, Nuh, and Karnal Lead the Way

In terms of district-wise performance, Gurugram Police took effective action by arresting the highest number of 53 criminals. Nuh Police played a significant role in maintaining law and order by arresting 33 accused. Karnal Police achieved a major success against drug trafficking, recovering over 12 kilograms of cannabis. Meanwhile, 10 kilograms of cannabis were seized from Hisar and seven and a half kilograms from Palwal. 31 criminals were arrested in Faridabad, while Palwal and Jind police apprehended 16 and 14 accused respectively.

Strict Action Against Liquor Smuggling

In the Hansi area, acting on a tip-off, the police recovered 176 cartons (2112 bottles in total) of illegal English liquor from a vehicle near Nada village. Vikas alias Sonu, a resident of Koth Khurd, was arrested in this case as he could not produce any valid documents related to the liquor. The accused was produced in court and taken on a one-day police remand to uncover the entire network of illegal liquor smuggling. Effective Action Against Interstate Crime

The Haryana Police have also adopted a strict stance against interstate crimes, arresting Zakaria in Nuh, who was wanted in connection with an ATM tampering and robbery case in Maharashtra. Based on intelligence received from the Maharashtra Police, the Ertiga car used in the crime was also recovered. The accused has been handed over to the Maharashtra Police on transit remand, demonstrating strong coordination and joint action between the states.

Faridabad Police’s Major Action Against Cybercrime

As part of the ongoing campaign against cybercrime, the Faridabad Cyber ​​Police Station, NIT, arrested Balram from Mathura in a case involving fraud of ₹1.08 crore under the pretext of investment in the stock market. The accused had created a fake firm called “Mount April India Marketing” to deceive people. Additionally, two accused, Nasiruddin and Sohil, who defrauded people of ₹2.32 lakh by posing as employees of ULB Haryana, were arrested from Jaipur. These accused used to hack mobile phones by sending fake links and then withdraw money from bank accounts. The police have taken all three accused on remand and have launched a thorough investigation into the entire cyber network.

Cyber ​​Helpline 1930: A Shield for Protecting Public Savings

Thanks to the swift and technologically advanced actions of the Haryana Police, effective control over cybercrime has been achieved. Acting on 293 complaints registered on the Cyber ​​Helpline 1930, the police managed to freeze 45.1 percent of the reported ₹1.38 crore fraud amount, i.e., ₹62,35,205, in a timely manner. In addition, 20 cybercriminals were arrested, and ₹77,62,500 was recovered and returned to the victims.
