New Delhi : Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will visit Punjab from November 26–27. He will interact with farmers and beneficiaries of rural development programmes, including MGNREGA .
During his two-day visit, Shri Chouhan will travel to Moga, Jalandhar, and Badshahpur to discuss on-ground progress of agricultural and rural schemes, promote environmentally sustainable farming practices, and review livelihood and infrastructure projects. He will meet farmers, MGNREGA workers, agricultural scientists, and government officials to understand local challenges, innovations, and opportunities to boost farmers’ incomes.
The visit includes interactions at Ransih Kalan village in Moga, meetings with MGNREGA beneficiaries at Jalandhar, and a visit to the ICAR–Central Potato Research Institute to learn about quality seeds and advanced crop technologies. A high-level review meeting with officials will focus on improving implementation of rural development programmes, while a press briefing will highlight government priorities for Punjab’s rural and farming communities.
This visit aims to strengthen direct communication between the Central Government and Punjab’s rural population, ensuring that policies are informed by field realities and tailored to enhance agricultural productivity, employment, and sustainable village development.
