MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya Reviewed Cleanliness and GRAP Works, Ordered Strict Action Against Violators

– 431 challans issued in two days, fines of over ₹3.41 lakh collected, 5 vehicles also seized

Gurugram : Municipal Corporation of Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya held a virtual review meeting on Wednesday regarding the ongoing cleanliness campaign and Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). He directed officials to accelerate cleanliness-related works and ensure strict and effective action against those violating rules.

The corporation continues to crack down on violators of cleanliness rules

The meeting was informed that continuous action is being taken against activities such as littering in the municipal area, use of banned single-use plastic, and dumping garbage or debris in public places. In the past two days, the corporation’s assistant sanitation inspector teams have issued 423 challans, imposing a total fine of ₹2,56,600. Furthermore, the Sanitation Security Force has also taken action against those illegally dumping garbage and debris. They have seized 5 vehicles and issued 6 challans, collecting a fine of ₹70,000. Vigilance has also been intensified against those setting fire to garbage. In the past two days, 3 people have been challaned and fined ₹15,000.

Dust and Weed Removal Continues at a Rapid Pace

Under the Mission Pollution-Free Clean Gurugram campaign, work is underway to remove dust, weeds, and C&D waste from major roads in the corporation area. In Zone 1, road cleaning is progressing rapidly from Hero Honda Chowk via Subhash Chowk to Bakhtawar Chowk. Cleaning work is ongoing in Zone 2 from Shyam Baba Chowk to Shobha City Road, in Zone 3 on Old and New Railway Road and MG Road, and in Zone 4 from Atul Kataria Chowk to HUDA City Centre Road.

The Municipal Commissioner directed that ongoing work on all these roads be completed by November 15th. He also directed that contractors of government departments ensure the immediate removal of debris and soil generated during their construction work. He also directed that bus queue shelters be regularly cleaned and garbage collection from secondary waste collection points be accelerated.

Steps being taken under GRAP

The meeting was informed that treated water is being regularly sprayed on the roads by tankers, which is helping to control dust. New water sprinkler machines will also begin arriving this month. For effective management of horticultural waste, 25 shredder machines have been made available at the ward level, and the remaining 15 machines will be operational soon. The Municipal Commissioner directed the officials to keep a special vigil on incidents of garbage burning and to issue challans and take immediate punitive action in such cases.
