Gurugram : Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Gurugram Yash Jaluka on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of various waterlogging points in Ward-27. During this, he took stock of the waterlogging situation near Vinayak Plaza, Jyoti Hospital, Court Road and Barf Khana. During the inspection, it was clearly revealed that the concerned contractor neither did the work of cleaning and removing silt from the drains on time nor provided the necessary machinery for drainage.
Contractor’s gross negligence exposed
During the inspection, Assistant Engineer Ashish Chhachhiya said that the work of cleaning and removing silt from storm water drains and hiring machinery for water and sewage drainage during rainy season was entrusted to The Meta Corporation Co-operative Society. The agency has neither provided machinery on the site as agreed nor cleaned the drains at the designated places. Contractor Mohit was also present on the spot during the inspection, who accepted responsibility for the delay. On this basis, the competent authority has approved disciplinary action against the concerned agency under Section-2 of the General Contract Conditions.
Strict warning from Additional Municipal Commissioner
The Additional Municipal Commissioner said that the Municipal Corporation is completely serious about water drainage during rainy season. If there is any delay in machinery or services at any level, it will be taken seriously and strict action will be taken against the concerned agencies. He also made it clear that recurrence of such cases will not be tolerated in future. The corporation’s priority towards the problems being faced by the public due to waterlogging is clear and any kind of negligence in this is unacceptable.
Corporation’s readiness in public interest
He said that Municipal Corporation Gurugram is constantly trying to deal with the problem of waterlogging during monsoon. However, if the contracted agencies do not discharge their responsibilities on time, it directly affects the citizens. In such a situation, the corporation has also indicated that strict steps like blacklisting negligent contractors can also be taken. He said that negligence in public services will not be tolerated and any agency or person who is lax in his duties will have to answer at both legal and administrative levels.
Action on service station for use of drinking water in car washing work
During the inspection, when the Additional Municipal Commissioner reached Bhim Nagar area, he found the use of drinking water in car washing work at a service station in the auto market here. He instructed the junior engineer to impose penalty on the service center operator on the spot and cut the water connection. He said that misuse of drinking water will not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict action will be taken against those doing so.
