Aravalli Green Wall Project to be spread across four states
Chandigarh : Haryana Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh has informed that the Haryana government has chalked out an ambitious Jungle Safari Project and Aravalli Green Wall Project in the Aravalli region. The aim of this project is not only to promote eco-tourism but also to conserve biodiversity, wildlife and provide employment opportunities to the local people.
Aravalli Green Wall: Environmental effort spread across four states
He informed that Aravalli is the oldest mountain range in India, spread across four states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi, and covers an area of 1.15 million hectares. The Central Government has entrusted the responsibility of ‘Aravalli Green Wall Project’ and ‘Jungle Safari’ to Haryana, which will prove to be a milestone from the environmental point of view.
Youth interest in wildlife conservation is increasing
Shri Rao Narbir Singh said that in the era of climate change and pollution, environmental conservation has become a global concern. He said, “Only by being sensitive towards nature and wildlife can we maintain environmental balance.” Today, many young startups and private institutions are also participating in wildlife conservation, which is strengthening the government efforts.
Inspiration is being taken from projects like Nagpur and Jamnagar
The minister said that this project was earlier under the Tourism Department, but now as per the instructions of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, its responsibility has been given to the Forest Department. He himself has visited Gorewada Safari of Nagpur and Vantara Project of Gujarat. The Haryana Government aims to inaugurate this mega project with the hands of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Employment opportunities will be available along with environmental benefits
Through the Aravali Green Wall Project, afforestation of indigenous species, improvement in soil health, groundwater recharge and biodiversity will be preserved. This will not only strengthen the environment of Haryana but will also generate green employment opportunities for the local youth as ‘Van Mitra’.
Rao Narbir Singh called upon everyone to pledge to protect and conserve wildlife, as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had also mentioned this in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
