Gurugram, March 26 : Gurugram SDM Paramjit Chahal chaired the quarterly meeting of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat on Wednesday and reviewed the action being taken under the SC/ST Act and gave necessary guidelines.

Chairing the meeting, SDM Paramjit Chahal obtained information about the financial assistance provided to the concerned beneficiaries under the scheme under the cases registered under the SC/ST Act from November to March. He gave instructions to provide the financial assistance to the victim family as soon as possible. He said that the victim family related to financial assistance also gets a lot of emotional support.

He said that as soon as the FIR is registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, compensation should be given to the victims so that the victims can get the benefit on time. Under this Act, if the concerned person files an FIR, the Social Welfare Department should take the bank account number and other documents from that person and take necessary action in a timely manner.

There should be no laxity in this matter. In the meeting, Tehsil Welfare Officer Jitendra Kumar informed the SDM that during the above period, 18 complaints were received at the district level under the SC/ST Act. Out of these, 11 cases are pending in the court and 7 are being investigated by the police. Jitendra Kumar said that in all the above cases, the first installment of the assistance amount has been given to 7 victims and the second installment to 11. During the meeting, the SDM also obtained information on this subject from non-government members.
